Boredom, the waistline destroyer!

Losing weight successfully isn’t just about a good diet, but about a good

attitude too. Boredom with food, boredom with meals, boredom with

cooking, boredom with lifestyle - all very common reasons why a weight loss plan

can be destroyed. Even if you have been losing weight successfully for a while

it never hurts to take stock of how you feel about your weight loss program so far.

“Boredom with lifestyle often leads to the inability or disinclination to do something different and more enjoyable because we forget how to.”

Take a long hard look at your life priorities and put these things in order of precedence:

  • ŸDo you want to be healthier?

  • ŸDo you want to be slimmer?

  • ŸDo you want to have more energy?

  • ŸDo you want to eat the right foods?

  • Do you want to do more exercise?

  • Do you want to sleep better?

  • Do you want to be more mentally alert?

If you have answered ‘yes’ to any of these but don’t know where to start, have one day when you switch off your TV for 24 hours and go and do something more interesting instead. Whether it’s going for a walk with the dog, going to see a film or visiting the zoo, whatever you choose should be enjoyable and something to look forward to.

Boredom with food. There is no reason why just because you are trying to eat healthier that food should be boring or bland. We do tend to eat the same foods and the same small selection of meals all the time because it’s easier. No wonder we get bored and fall off the wagon. Eating less of a food if you are looking to watch your weight will help lose the pounds but it won't solve the bland and repetitive food issue

Try these tips for livening up your eating regime:

  • ŸTry something different! Vary your meals more. If you don’t like cooking much or haven’t much time when you get home from work, then spend a little time now going through the recipes and selecting the easy cook ones - have a look at my recipes on this site for inspiration.

  • ŸTry to adopt a more positive attitude to your food, your meals and your lifestyle in general.

  • ŸVisualise yourself getting a better nights sleep, feeling refreshed

  • ŸVisualise yourself looking healthier, younger and having more energy and zest for life

  • ŸChoose the right foods for health - keep it balanced, no one foods does it all!

  • ŸBe more active, this often inspires our taste buds as we have a positive hunger after regular activity
